How to talk with a small child: important principles
Communication with young children should be different from your usual one.
What you should pay attention to:
1. Your speech should be as simple as possible. A small child may not understand the exact meaning of certain words. In addition, you should not use complex syntactic constructions in speech: the baby will get lost and at best forget half of what was said. Use words with a single meaning and easy to understand.
2. Speak at the same level. Eye contact is crucial in communication, so work hard to keep your eyes level.
3. Be specific. In the first years of life, you should not use those words whose meanings cannot be shown in the picture or seen in the real world. The same rule applies to pronouns: they can mislead the child.
