Mom before the death wrote to the children greeting cards

44-year-old resident of the city of Newcastle (United Kingdom) Joe Devereaux was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2015. Joe underwent surgery and several courses of chemotherapy. However, in July 2018, the doctors told Joe bad news – the cancer had spread to other organs and she had no more than half a year to live, writes The Daily Mail.

Then Joe decided to prepare for her children – 17-year-old Erin, 11-year-old Liam and 9-year-old Lily – greeting cards and gifts for birthdays and Christmas. Joe tried to make sure that each of the children received postcards and gifts from her right up to their 30th birthday. She hopes that in this way the children will keep a vivid memory of her.

Despite the disappointing outlook, Joe is still alive. “Now I’m fully focused on making sure that children can cope with everything without me, as well as on enjoying these last days when we are together,” she says.

Joe does not maintain relations with his parents and the father of children, so after her death the eldest daughter, Erin, will become the official guardian of the two younger ones, Liam and Lily. Joe understands how difficult Erin, who is only 17, will be – on her shoulders will lie the care not only of the younger, but also of the two dogs, and of the house where the family lives. “I just don’t know what we would do without her, she’s our savior,” says Joe.
