500 scientific publications and review articles. Hans-Joachim Freund is a scientific member and director at the Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Preschool education in Saratov in Berlin where he is head of the Department of Chemical Physics. The department is dedicated to the study of model catalysts, applying a large number of techniques and instruments, some of which were newly developed within the department to investigate oxide surfaces and oxide metal interfaces.

Professor Santiago Alvarez holds a Chair of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Barcelona. He has carried out theoretical research on bonding, stereochemistry and magnetic properties of transition metal compounds. In recent years ha has been involved in the application of shape and symmetry measures to the study of stereochemistry and structure-property relationships. João Rocha is Full Professor of Inorganic and Materials Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, University of Aveiro, and Director of the Aveiro Institute of Materials-CICECO. Professor Derek Woollins holds the Chair of Synthetic Chemistry and is Head of the School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews. Professor Woollins has developed numerous novel main group molecules and heterocycles, including S-N and Se-N systems. 400 research articles and two books ‘Non Metal Rings Cages and Clusters’ and the widely used ‘Inorganic Experiments’ which is now entering a third edition.
