Scientists have named the main use of tap water.
American academics from the University of North Carolina said that the rejection of tap water increases the risk of caries in children several times. On the other hand, excessive consumption of water from the tap accumulates lead in the blood.
Researchers analyzed the health status of 16 thousand children and adolescents aged 2-19 years who participated in the long-term study NHANES from 2005 to 2014
As a result of the experiment, it turned out that approximately 3% of children had elevated levels of lead in the blood; 49.8% developed caries of varying degrees of complexity; about 15% drank only purified water. For the latter category of subjects, the risk of caries was the highest, but the lead content in their blood was very low.
